I have felt so accomplished this past week and it is awesome. How?
Magic unicorn cookies, of course! (Order your own from The Flour Girl Bakery in Raleigh!)
So maybe not really, although they are adorable + tasty. My magic, believe it or not, descended down from the universe in a weird, convoluted, I-don’t-know-what’s-happening sort of way that resulted in me leaving one of my day jobs. Sometimes the stars align, things work out, and all is well in the world.
And that whole “When one door shuts another one opens” saying is totally true. Excitedly, I opened a few, not just one.
I am thrilled to have a new stockist for bird + beau jewels, The Purple Polka Dot in Cary! Kristin + her team celebrate a birthday this week, so if you’re in the area check it out.
I also sent two new batches of pretties to the sweet girls at Lily Mae’s this past week! Go see + shop.
Meanwhile, I’ve been working on a new logo for a local business — will have to unveil soon. Promise. Actually, I have a decent chunk of design work I need to upload to my portfolio, so be on the lookout.
Also, this past weekend wrapped up the first half of 2015 Raleigh Makers Market events. We’ll be taking a break over July 4th weekend, which will allow some time to revamp the site + gear up for the busy latter part of the year!
And after attending the Ignite conference last weekend, man, are ideas bouncing around in my head. Like a crazy person. But a mostly cool crazy person. Wink wink.
The most magical part of all of this: it sounds like the last week has been a hectic mess, but I have seriously felt so relaxed + now accomplished. I have had more time to focus on b+b and the tasks I’ve needed to get done and somehow it has (and is) all worked out for the better. Now with my new pretty planner from Furbish, I am ready to take on the world. (Yes, somehow I turned down wine for a week, but I couldn’t say no to this… I mean how could I?!)
Some tips for feeling accomplished:
- Make time for you that isn’t “after hours” — it hardly counts if it means being stressed + tired at 2am.
- Time your tasks so you get more done without distraction. Yes, tell Siri to set a timer + then just focus on one task at a time.
- Celebrate your little victories whether by writing a blog post about it or treating yourself to a latte!
I could elaborate more on any of these really and may do so soon, but I’d love to hear how you feel accomplished. Leave your best tip in the comments!
