bird + beau / small biz shiz

One Woman Shop Baton

Happy Monday, loves.  Last week I had the pleasure of carrying the One Woman Shop Instagram baton, where I shared a behind-the-scenes peek into a day of this one woman shop.  Have a look-see…

rise + shine // I shared first an engagement photo of me + my fella because that’s what started it all!  After he proposed in 2011, I got busy making jewelry again to help save for our wedding day.  The name, bird + beau, was and is my “why” — my reason, my inspiration — but it isn’t limited to only me + my beau.

monday morning + the weekend aftermath // Last Monday I was in organization mode, unpacking + clearing my dining room table of the aftermath from a Saturday show.  Now it’s time to start prepping for the next!

cuts + corks // A quick peek at some of my POP collection pieces + the very corks I was about to cut up for a new order.

sparkle + shine // These POP glitter studs go through quite a little process of being cut, polished, + dolled up.  This lovely pair was shipped off to California!

stitched + stamped // Hands down one of my favorite parts of owning my own small biz is getting to be creative in a multitude of ways, like my packaging!  I sew + stamp my own bags in my brand color scheme and custom logo.

a girl + her desk // Running a small biz isn’t glitz + glitter all day.  I spend a hefty amount of my time right here: blogging, emailing, designing, + promoting.  It’s a lot of work, but when you love what you’re doing it never really feels like work.

a beautiful mess + piles to purge // My other desk is fairly easy to maintain, but my art desk… not so much.  Such is the life of a maker.  If you’re in search of random craft supplies, I started a flash sale on IG here, though I’m considering listing some items on Etsy (will keep you posted).

a little sneak + a little peek // These babies are new, not even listed.  I snapped this photo, however, to share a brief bit about product photography, which I thoroughly enjoy.  I don’t have a fancy set up or a snazzy camera, but I keep it simple + have fun with it.

shelves + things // Being I was sharing a peek into my studio, I gave a quick run down of what was occupying my bookcase.  Lots of goodness.  Like those new nifty paintings I’ve been working on, soon to be available online!

big hugs + good luck // I ended the day with a giveaway of these pretties.  Since February I’ve been hosting little contests on the 14th of each month, because Valentine’s Day shouldn’t be the only day to spread some love.

That was my day.  The pretty version at least.  The moments I didn’t share: my messy + unwashed up-do, the piles of laundry, the bed that went unmade, the bill paying, the wondering how I’m gonna do the bill paying, the staying up late watching Drop Dead Diva whilst working on more goodies.  I did share that image of my messy art desk though — keepin’ it real.  Because it’s not always pretty; in fact, it’s downright hard at times, but I love it.  I love this adventure, this tiny little biz that I can call my own, the smiles it brings.
