I always remember how much I actually enjoy dressing up when I get to dress up for an event. This weekend we are thrilled to celebrate our friends’ wedding… and, of course, I’m happy to get dolled up for the evening.
I’m going to let you in on a little secret: I am totally posting this late. Sorry. Lucky for me, that means I have a photo of me + my beau all dolled up.
So, anyhow… leading up to the big day, I completely had another dress picked out to wear, my magenta frilly Banana Republic dress that I just love. But, day of, I switched it up. The dress above is from Gap and I bought it probably five years ago or so. I LOVE it. It’s such a favorite and I hope I have it for five more to come.
I actually made the earrings above to coordinate with this dress, so they’re pushing five too. I tried to mimic the shape of the silk flower petals sewn on the dress with sterling wire. The buttons were a perfect color match with their neutral iridescence.
I also crafted this button ring quite some time ago and whipped up this necklace the other day. I’m kind of loving all the shimmery neutrals for spring/summer!
I paired nude peep-toe heels from Nine West with this dress for a simple look, keeping the focus on the delicate details of the dress and my accessories.
Technically, this wraps up my closet challenge. Though, I must admit I sort of cheated midway and bought a couple of basics for pretty cheap. Yes, the goal was to rediscover + repurpose what I already own without breaking the bank, but I’ll share my new additions in the weeks to come and you can be the judge!
